HI – my names Ashley (Ash) and I’m a freelance journalist based in London. I’m on the verge of 23 and very close towards the end of my masters in Newspaper Journalism at City University London.
In 2013 I graduated from University College London with a First in History – which came hand in hand with an over zealous appetite for cigarettes. At UCL I was News Editor of Pi Newspaper, UCL’s official student newspaper. There we covered stories that investigated funding from the arms industry, reported on an occupation of a university building at 3am, and interviewed a girl who thought Oxford wasn’t good enough for her. We often gave out newspapers in the freezing cold too.
Since then I’ve been interning at a range of both national and local media organisations: The Guardian, The New Statesman, Gay Times, The Camden New Journal, The Islington Gazette and The Ham & High. You can see some cuttings here.
This blog is another chance for me to not get paid to write. But I’m not too fussed. I’m not entirely sure what it feels like to get paid to write. Maybe I won’t like it.
